Since the inception of DF13 Skateboards in 2014, we have worked on a campaign called Skate4Life. It has taken many forms since that time as we worked hard to figure out the best way to benefit the community with the campaign and determine the best way to bring joy and love to the community. Finally we have determined the best way to do this is to give to the youth and really focus our efforts in that direction.
Our goal with Skate4Life from this moment on, will be to deliver items to the sick children in Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. We will be able to accomplish this goal with the assistance of the community as a whole. Our goal is to hopefully raise at least $9000 per year to make sure that every child in at least one wing of the hospital (per year) gets an item.
The process will be made as simple as possible and will be as follows:
- 1. A caring and generous person will visit our donation page and choose the donation they wish to give. These donations will be laid out in multiples of $5 and will also give the ability to simply purchase an item at cost to be donated to a sick child. These will currently include skate decks (Designed by artists and other children as an inspirational message or get well message to a random child in the hospital), and apparel.
- 2. The monetary donation or item chosen to donate will then be created and set aside for delivery
- 3. When we have reached our goal, we will personally deliver all of the items to the hospital and meet with the children. We hope to take some special guests with us as well to really help brighten the day of these kids. These can be superheroes, celebrities in the skateboarding world, or even local celebrities.
- 4. Our Skate4Life campaign page will keep and display a running total to show how close we are to our goal and each person who donates will receive confirmation (receipt) of their donation.
It really is that simple.
What we are and what we are not
It is important to note that DF13 Skateboards is NOT a charity organization. We have however decided to help facilitate the process of giving back to our community and specifically bringing cheer to the little hearts that need it most and to eliminate our profit from each item donated so that the donations are more affordable for the contributor. It is also important to note that we are not affiliated with Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in any way. We have merely chosen their patients to be the recipients of this effort.
In conclusion, we really hope you will all find it in your heart to come together and spread some love and cheer to these children.
